Adventure Camp (Grades 3-8)

Adventure Camp is a week-long camp where campers are given the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone and are encouraged to be themselves. Campers spend their days kayaking and tubing down the Wakarusa River, shooting archery or throwing hatchets in our target sports area, climbing and rappelling on the limestone bluffs found throughout camp or exercising their creative side in Arts and Crafts. Other campers will choose to explore the forest and learn outdoor living skills, while others will opt to dress up and battle orcs and trolls in order to restore peace to the land of Bensondom. Through the varied activities and the daily routine at YMCA Camp Benson, campers develop a sense of accomplishment during their stay. Learning new skills and self-reliance builds confidence and promotes a healthy lifestyle for the future.

In this summer camp setting, campers are free from the pressures of everyday life and leave feeling empowered, connected and with an “I can do anything” attitude. The independence and confidence built during a week of Adventure Camp is carried over into every other part of that camper’s life. Adventure campers will make memories and friends that last a lifetime.

“The YCB experience created memories our daughter will have for a lifetime. She has gained skills, tried new things and has made new friends.” -Kris
